Mechanised Tester is dedicated to coating hardness evolution based on scratching resistance method.
A test panel is clamped to a slide which slowly withdraws the panel while a needle scratches the surface. Tests are conducted either on a ‘go/no go’ basis using a single specified load or by increasing the load to determine the minimum load at which the coating is penetrated. The systems indicate scratch by means of a buzzer and indicator which turn on when the needle touches the base metal.
A Voltmeter indicates the contact, when the needle touches the base metal.
The automatic systems disengage the needle from the panel when returning to home position.

The pencil hardness tester uses the varying hardness values of graphite pencils to evaluate a coating’s hardness. The pencil lead prepared beforehand using the special sharpener and abrasive paper, is inserted into the tester and pushed over the smooth & flat coated surface.
The lowest hardness value of the pencil which marks the coating determines the coating’s hardness rating.
The SIIN-501 has been designed to ensure that the cylindrical pencil lead is maintained at a constant angle of 45° and exerts a force of 7.5N (750 gm).
Features:
-
◆ Small volume, light weight.
-
◆ Use at the laboratory and construction site.
Technical Parameters:
-
◆ Load on the point of pencil:750±5g.
-
◆ Constant angle of 45°.
-
◆ Overall dimensions:120×75×60mm(L×W×H).
-
◆ Weigh: 2.3kg.
CONFORMS TO
ASTM D 3363,BS 3900-E19,EN 13523-4,ISO 15184,JIS K 5600-5-4, IS:101.
Spare pencils: 7B,6B,5B,4B,3B,2B, HB,7H, 6H,5H,4H, 3H,2H,F grades(Optional).

BUCHHOLZ INDENTATION HARDNESS TESTER
Indentation Tester is used to evaluate hardness of mono or multicoat paints. A beveled disc with a sharp edge is applied onto the test surface under a constant 500g. Test load provided by a steel block holder. The trace left after 30 s. Load is measured with a 20X magnification illuminated microscope. The length of the indentation is inversely proportional to the hardness.
CONFORMS TO : BS EN ISO 2815, ECCA T12
Technical Parameters :
-
◆ Dead weight of indentation device:1kg±5g.
-
◆ Indentation load:500±5g.
-
◆ Accuracy of indentation reading:0.1mm.
